Explanation of TwinGuard technology

TwinGuard columns feature a combination of deactivated pre-column and deactivated post-column, enclosing the part of the column that contains the chiral stationary phase.

The pre-column protects the column from involatile impurities and allows repetitive shortening of the column without any loss of selectivity. The column's life-time is significantly improved.

The post-column avoids decomposition of stationary phase in the heated FID detector, thus decreasing noise and improving the signal/noise ratio. Installations requiring cutting off the top part of the column can now be done repetively without shortening the active part of the column, and hence without any loss of selectivity. Heat stress on the chiral stationary phase is also reduced.

Specifications

Total length of column 31 m, consisting of 5 m deactivated pre-column, 25 m chiral stationary phase, 1 m deactivated post-column. Pre-column and post-column are clearly marked with red and white labels, respectively. Inner diameter 250 um, fused silica capillary pre-conditioned; each column individually tested, serial number imprinted on column carrier. Each column delivered on an innovative high-quality, robust, light-weight aluminium carrier.
